A major incident was narrowly avoided on the Delhi to Ranchi Garib Rath train. Smoke was observed coming from coach G-5, leading to panic among the passengers. Many passengers, fearing for their safety, jumped from the moving train. Some sustained injuries in the process. The train, which was scheduled to depart Delhi at 4:10 PM, experienced the incident between Ghaziabad and Khurda around 5:30 PM. The TT alerted the guard and the loco pilot. The train’s speed was reduced, but many passengers jumped off before it came to a complete stop. The railway staff inspected the coach after the train stopped, but no information was provided to the passengers about the nature of the problem. After a delay of about 35 minutes, passengers were instructed to re-board the coach and were informed that the issue was resolved. Senior DCM Shuchi Singh has claimed that she was unaware of the situation.
