The railway is taking measures to prevent train accidents and protect elephants from collisions by implementing an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) on the Dhanbad-Gaya Grand Chord section. The system will utilize AI to identify elephants near the tracks, alerting the control room and loco pilots. This will enable the trains to be stopped or operated with caution. The system will involve laying OFC cables underground and installing sensors. It is designed to be operational on the Chichaki-Hazaribag Road and Keswari-Chaube sections, covering around 40 kilometers of track. The project is estimated to cost ₹4.83 crore and is targeted for completion within six months of the tender award. The centralized monitoring will be managed from Dhanbad, with Hazaribag also having control access.
