In a heart-wrenching event in Balrampur, Chhattisgarh, a woman and her two-year-old son lost their lives after being swept away in an overflowing drain. This sorrowful occurrence took place in Sahi Tongri village, within the Shankargarh police station area, leaving the entire village in mourning.
Rajni Korwa (married to Kishun Korwa) from Amgaon, had recently returned from her maternal home. On Monday, she was journeying back to her in-laws’ home with her son when the tragedy unfolded. While attempting to cross an overflowing drain in the Sahi Tongri area, they were caught in the strong currents and carried away.
The Shankargarh police were quickly notified and arrived at the scene. After a difficult search, the bodies of the mother and child were recovered. The bodies were then sent for a post-mortem examination, and the family was informed.
The untimely death of Rajni and her son has brought deep sorrow to their family and the village. The event raises questions about safety precautions on such hazardous routes, especially during the monsoon season.
