The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and several other districts in Odisha, forecasting intense weather conditions. Residents should prepare for moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning, with surface wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph in areas including Cuttack, Kendrapara, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), and Sundargarh. The midday bulletin further indicates that heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda. The low-pressure area, having moved from Gangetic West Bengal and north Odisha to Jharkhand, is likely to move west-northwestwards within the next 24 hours. The orange warning continues for two days, and heavy rain is expected across Odisha till July 5.
