Odisha Police have made significant progress in the investigation into the torture of two Dalit men, arresting Rajesh Samal, identified as the prime accused, and two others. The incident, which took place in Ganjam district on June 22nd, involved accusations related to cattle transport. The arrests bring the total number of individuals in custody to 12. The victims, Babula Nayak and Bulu Nayak, were subjected to inhumane treatment after being accused of cattle smuggling. The attackers sought a sum of Rs 30,000 and subsequently inflicted a series of brutal acts, including physical assault, forced shaving, and humiliation. The Dharakote police station is actively pursuing other suspects. The incident continues to draw strong reactions from various sectors of society.
