Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has strongly refuted former US President Donald Trump’s call for Iran’s surrender, dismissing it as an empty threat.
“The US President stated, ‘Iran must surrender.’ Needless to say, this statement is too big to come out of the US president’s mouth,” Khamenei wrote on X.
These comments came after the US launched strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. Khamenei declared that Iran had prevailed in the conflict, dismissing Trump’s assessment of the strikes as a “spectacular military success.” Khamenei claimed that the US intervened in the war to protect the “Zionist regime” but failed to achieve its objectives.
Trump had previously declared that the strikes had crippled Iran’s nuclear program. Trump later demanded “Unconditional surrender” and warned of escalating consequences. In a White House address, Trump warned Iran about choosing between peace and a far greater tragedy. He emphasized that there were many more targets and that further military action was possible.
