Jharkhand recently celebrated 10 years of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). To mark the occasion, PM Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 has been launched in the state by the central government. Events were held across all urban local bodies on Wednesday.
Nancy Sahay, Director of the Directorate of Urban Administration, provided the information about the launch. She congratulated the beneficiaries and urban local bodies on this occasion. She noted that PM Modi’s government has initiated PM Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 in the state to assist the urban homeless. Eligible individuals can apply through their local urban bodies or online.
The application process involves visiting pmaymis.gov.in. Applicants need to select ‘Citizen Assessment’ and then ‘Apply Online.’ They must then enter their Aadhaar number for OTP verification and complete the application form, providing details such as name, address, income, and family details. The required documents must be uploaded, and the receipt must be downloaded after submission. The hard copies of the documents should be submitted to the municipal corporation office.
Documents needed for the application include an Aadhaar card, ration card, bank passbook, income certificate, passport-size photo, land documents (if available), and a mobile number linked to the applicant’s Aadhaar.
Over the past decade, the program has provided permanent housing to thousands of urban homeless people in Jharkhand. Jharkhand has been a leading state in the implementation of the ‘Beneficiary-led individual house construction’ component of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).
