The IAEA is prioritizing inspections of Iranian nuclear facilities following strikes by the US and Israel. Rafael Mariano Grossi has emphasized that the agency’s immediate goal is to send inspectors to assess the impact of the attacks. Grossi has also highlighted the need to account for Iran’s enriched uranium, particularly the 60% enriched material. He has called for all parties to engage in diplomacy and resume negotiations. The IAEA’s chief warned that the existing nuclear non-proliferation regime is at risk and that failure to pursue diplomatic solutions could lead to a widening conflict with catastrophic consequences.
