The Indian government, through Operation Sindhu, has successfully evacuated more than 2,500 Indian nationals from Iran, which is currently affected by conflict. The evacuees are appreciative of the government’s efforts and their safe return. One evacuee, Saiyada Jeniffer Rizvi, mentioned that the situation in Iran was extremely difficult and spoke about how they would have faced many problems without the Indian Embassy’s help. Kasim, another evacuee, shared his happiness upon reaching home, mentioning that the arrangements were very good. Syed Mehboob, who is from Ladakh, expressed his gratitude to the embassy for helping him reach Delhi. A recent flight brought back 281 Indian nationals, as well as three Sri Lankan and two Nepalese nationals, bringing the total to 2576 evacuees under Operation Sindhu, as stated by the Ministry of External Affairs. Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, emphasized the government’s commitment to providing assistance to those in need and extending aid to neighboring countries like Nepal and Sri Lanka. The MEA stated that the goal of Operation Sindhu is to assist all Indian nationals needing evacuation, and that the operation is also supporting neighboring countries.
