In the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, the police have stated that Sonam Raghuvanshi and her co-accused have confessed to the crime. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has denied the victim’s family’s request for a narco test, citing sufficient evidence already collected. Superintendent of Police (East Khasi Hills) Vivek Syiem confirmed the rejection of the narco test, stating that the results of such tests are not admissible in court. The police indicated that the suspects have confessed to the crime and the crime scene has been reconstructed. The police stated the motive for the murder was not primarily financial, but the removal of the victim due to his presence in their relationship and business dealings. Police are also questioning Lokendra Tomar, owner of an infrastructure company and a flat in Indore where Sonam stayed before her arrest. The police are investigating the removal of a bag from the flat which allegedly contained a country-made pistol, Sonam’s mobile phone, Raja’s jewellery, and ₹5 lakh in cash. Two individuals are accused of tampering with evidence. The police are still trying to recover the jewelry Sonam brought back from Meghalaya. Silome James, security guard Balveer, and Lokendra Tomar are expected to appear in a Shillong court.
