The Bihar government has implemented a series of welfare measures to improve the lives of its citizens. The state cabinet has approved the ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Mandap Yojana’, which includes building marriage halls in every panchayat to assist families with limited financial resources. This initiative is backed by an investment of over ₹40 billion.
Key aspects of the new initiatives include a significant increase in the social security pension to ₹1,100 per month, benefitting over 10.9 million recipients from July onward. The government is also subsidizing meals through the ‘Didi Ki Rasoi’ program, offering meals at ₹20 per plate, with the state covering part of the cost. Furthermore, the loan limit for Jeevika’s business activities will increase to ₹10 lakh with the government bearing the interest. Additionally, the government will increase the scheme amount for Gram Panchayats and provide ex-gratia grants to Panchayat representatives in case of death and a plan to construct roads across 38 districts.
