Mumbai’s opening batsman, Prithvi Shaw, has officially notified the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) of his intention to leave the state team and play for another team in domestic cricket as a ‘professional’ player. He has requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the MCA to facilitate his move.
The MCA confirmed that they will soon decide on his request. This comes after a challenging period for Shaw with Mumbai, marked by issues with both fitness and form. The MCA’s selection panel had earlier advised Shaw to take a fitness course. His physical condition, however, didn’t show significant progress, leading to his exclusion from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy squads. Shaw’s departure would mark a major turning point, especially for a player who once led India to a U19 World Cup win and was viewed as a promising Mumbai cricket talent.
