At a UN Security Council emergency session, Israel’s representative Danny Danon praised the recent US strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites. He framed the strikes as a crucial step to eliminate what he considered the “greatest existential threat to humanity.” Danon, speaking during a session focused on threats to international peace and security, strongly defended the US-led Operation Midnight Hammer. He questioned the condemnation of the US action by some nations, specifically referencing their silence during Iran’s uranium enrichment and alleged hostile actions against Israel. Danon alleged Iran used the negotiation process as a cover to advance its missile program and uranium enrichment. He highlighted the potential global impact of a nuclear-armed Iran. The strikes targeted key Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The IDF stated that about 20 Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter jets conducted intelligence-driven strikes across Hamedan and Tehran. The IDF noted that the strikes targeted missile storage and launch facilities, radar and satellite systems, and a surface-to-air missile launcher near Tehran. The stated aim was to reduce the Iranian regime’s military strength and ensure aerial security for Israelis.
