**Plot Summary:**
The film revolves around Laura, a childcare worker who is devastated by the sudden loss of her daughter. Consumed by grief and unable to move forward, Laura’s sorrow transforms into a dark obsession. Desperate to fill the void, she opens her secluded countryside home to foster children, becoming a temporary guardian to a small group of orphans. Among them are Andy and Piper, teenage twins still reeling from the loss of their parents, and a younger, withdrawn girl who rarely speaks and hides behind a vacant stare.
Initially, Laura appears gentle and caring, her home seemingly quaint and peaceful. However, the children quickly realize something is amiss. Doors creak open on their own, whispers echo from darkened corners, and Laura’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, particularly after nightfall.
As the twins adjust to their new surroundings, they begin to sense a darkness beneath Laura’s grief. One night, they discover a hidden room and witness a disturbing ritual: Laura chanting over a decaying shrine containing remnants of her deceased daughter’s belongings.
Andy and Piper are horrified to realize the truth: Laura isn’t simply grieving. She’s been preparing for a resurrection. The silent orphan girl isn’t just quiet; she’s part of the ceremony, a vessel. And now, with her ritual failing, Laura believes she needs a stronger sacrifice.
