A district and sessions court in Shillong, Meghalaya, has ordered Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha to 13 days of judicial custody in connection with the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case. The East Khasi Hills district police confirmed the order. The Assistant Public Prosecutor clarified that the court granted judicial custody as the police did not request police custody. Earlier, Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand were sent to 14-day judicial custody. The arrests followed the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was visiting Meghalaya for his honeymoon. Raja’s body was found near Sohra (Cherrapunji) on June 2. The couple, from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, disappeared during their honeymoon. The Meghalaya Police’s SIT reconstructed the crime scene in Sohra. The SP stated that the reconstruction gave a clearer picture of the crime. Authorities are still looking for a machete used in the murder. The reconstruction included a re-enactment of the crime. Sonam Raghuvanshi and Vishal are said to have damaged the victim’s phone. The victim was first hit by Vishal, after which the body was disposed of.
