A tragic landslide near Jangalchatti on the Kedarnath Yatra route claimed the lives of two porters from Jammu and Kashmir and injured three others, including a pilgrim from Gujarat. The incident occurred Wednesday morning in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district. The landslide caused individuals to fall into a deep gorge. Rescue teams, including the NDRF, SDRF, local police, and the District Disaster Response Force, responded immediately. The deceased porters were identified as Nitin Kumar and Chandrashekhar. The injured, Sandeep Kumar, Nitin Manhas, and Akash Chitriya, were transported to Gaurikund Hospital. This incident has raised concerns about the safety of the Kedarnath Yatra route, particularly during the monsoon season. Pilgrims are advised to be cautious and follow safety guidelines. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued alerts for heavy rainfall in the coming days, with warnings of heavy to very heavy rains in several districts.
