Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Cyprus saw a blend of traditional Indian customs and high-level diplomacy. Michaela Kythreoti Mhlapa, a member of the Nicosia Council, welcomed PM Modi by touching his feet, a customary expression of respect. This gesture was acknowledged by the Prime Minister. The visit also featured the awarding of the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III, Cyprus’s highest honor, to PM Modi by President Nikos Christodoulides. PM Modi dedicated the honor to the people of India, emphasizing the shared values and strong ties between the two countries. The visit, which occurred after more than two decades since the last by an Indian Prime Minister, also included meetings with the Indian community and business leaders, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations.
