Two youths in the Amravati district of Maharashtra set fire to a Mahavitaran sub-station in Walgaon on Monday, citing persistent power supply issues. The incident, which happened around 11:30 AM on June 15, involved the individuals entering the office with petrol and setting fire to furniture and equipment. Witnesses say that the individuals confronted the assistant engineer, expressing anger at the frequent power outages. An employee’s mobile recording showed the incident, suggesting the attack was planned. The fire destroyed numerous documents, computers, and other important files, causing a disruption to the sub-station and affecting the power supply to over six villages. Local police have registered a case, with charges including assault on a government employee, arson, and damage to government property. The accused are currently absconding, and the police have dispatched search teams. While condemning the arson, locals are demanding strict action against the perpetrators from the administration, highlighting the ongoing issue of daily power cuts.
