Team India coach, Gautam Gambhir, has urgently returned to India due to a family health crisis. To keep the team’s preparations on track, the BCCI has appointed VVS Laxman as the temporary head coach. Laxman, already in England as the head of the Centre of Excellence and the head coach of the Indian Under-19 team, is assisting with the team’s practice match against Gill and India A. His previous experience as an interim head coach and his familiarity with the current players are assets. Gambhir is expected to rejoin the team before the first Test match against England, set to commence on June 20th.
