A major crackdown on illegal alcohol trade in the Dhanbad district’s Nirsa sub-division has led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of liquor. The operation, a joint effort by Chirakunda and Kalubathan police, targeted illicit alcohol businesses in the region. Late Wednesday night, the authorities conducted raids and confiscated a significant amount of both country-made and foreign liquor. During the operation, police arrested two individuals involved in the illicit alcohol trade. Further investigations and raids are being conducted to apprehend additional suspects. Nirsa SDPO Rajat Manik Bakhla provided details of the operation during a press conference held at the Maithan office on Thursday. The SDPO confirmed that the raids were conducted under the supervision of senior police officers to curb the illegal production and sale of alcohol in the area. A raid at the residence of Raghunath Tudu in Kathardih village, Kalubathan OP area, resulted in the recovery of a large amount of alcohol. An alcohol vendor, Mangal Tudu, was arrested and provided information regarding other individuals involved. In a separate incident, police raided a hotel near Juncunder Phatak vegetable market in the Chirakunda police station area and seized a quantity of both foreign and Indian-made liquor. The hotel owner attempted to evade capture but was quickly apprehended. Both of the arrested individuals have been charged under applicable laws and have been remanded to judicial custody. The SDPO reiterated that the crackdown will continue, with a zero-tolerance policy for those involved in the illegal alcohol trade.
