A controversy surrounding the Singhbhum Sports Association ground in West Singhbhum (Chaibasa) has been resolved with the reopening of the facility. The ground was sealed on Tuesday following orders from Deputy Commissioner Chandan Kumar, based on the National Sports Development Code of India 2011. This action was taken in the presence of local officials. Players were surprised to find the ground closed when they arrived for practice, and they expressed frustration over the lack of alternate training facilities. They also mentioned that the closure was impacting their training for the upcoming Home Guard recruitment. The General Secretary of the Singhbhum Sports Association and former MLA, Mithilesh Kumar Thakur, intervened after hearing the players’ concerns. He contacted the concerned authorities, leading to the Deputy Commissioner’s decision to reopen the ground. A meeting has been arranged for June 14 to comprehensively discuss the issues surrounding the ground.
