India’s Jaishankar: Strong Warnings on Terrorism, Focus on Global Role

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, in a Le Figaro interview, laid out India’s foreign policy priorities. He reiterated India’s commitment to ending the war in Ukraine and strengthening ties with the Global South. He discussed the strong partnership between India and France and emphasized the word ‘trust’ as central to this relationship. Addressing the issue of terrorism, Jaishankar warned that India would retaliate against any terrorist attacks, including pursuing perpetrators in Pakistan. He also discussed China’s role in the Indo-Pacific, India-US relations, and the ongoing Ukraine conflict. Jaishankar spoke about the Global South and India’s readiness to play a larger role in the world, including advocating for reforms in the UN Security Council.
