An IED blast in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh resulted in the death of ASP Akash Rao Giripunje, with several other police officers injured. The incident occurred on Monday near Dondra village. The police were conducting patrols in response to a bandh called by Naxalites. ASP Giripunje, who was critically injured, died during treatment at a hospital in Konta. The incident has triggered intensified search operations in the area. Deputy CM Vijay Shamra expressed his sorrow, noting the ASP’s bravery and service. This attack comes as security forces continue to combat Naxalism, and highlights the challenges in the ongoing efforts to eliminate the Naxal threat by March 2026.
