A tragic incident in the United States has resulted in the death of 19-year-old Renna O’Rourke, who participated in the ‘dusting’ trend. This viral challenge involves inhaling household cleaners for a temporary high, posing serious health risks. O’Rourke suffered cardiac arrest after inhaling keyboard cleaner that was purchased without her family’s knowledge. She was admitted to the ICU but was later declared brain dead. Her family is actively working to warn others about the dangers associated with ‘dusting,’ including the ease with which children can access the necessary substances. They are urging parents to be vigilant about their children’s activities and the substances to which they have access. A GoFundMe page has been launched to help cover medical bills and therapy costs. This heartbreaking event echoes a similar incident in the UK earlier this year.
