A near-miss incident occurred on Saturday morning when a truck struck a convoy carrying Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav. The incident took place near Goraul in Vaishali district while Yadav was traveling back to Patna following a political rally in Madhepura. The convoy had halted on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway around 12:30 AM for a brief tea break. Tejashwi Yadav, who was a few meters away, escaped without injury. However, three security officials were hurt in the crash and were promptly taken to a nearby hospital. Yadav subsequently visited the injured officials, expressing concern for their well-being. The injured personnel are currently stable, having suffered bruises and minor fractures. The truck driver was apprehended at the scene, and the truck was seized by the police. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, with potential factors including speeding or driver drowsiness. The event has raised safety concerns for political figures traveling long distances in Bihar, particularly at night. RJD supporters reacted on social media, thanking God for Yadav’s safety and advocating for improved road safety and traffic rule enforcement. Party leaders have requested a thorough review of VIP security protocols, especially given poor road conditions and potentially risky driving behaviors. Despite the accident, Tejashwi Yadav has returned to his normal activities and assured his followers that he is safe.
