A convoy carrying Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav was struck by a speeding truck near Goraul in Vaishali district on Saturday morning. The incident occurred as Yadav was returning to Patna following a political event in Madhepura.
The convoy had stopped for a brief break on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway at around 12:30 AM. As Tejashwi Yadav was taking a tea break a few meters away, the truck collided with the stationary vehicles of his security detail. Thankfully, Yadav’s personal vehicle was not impacted, and he was unharmed.
The crash resulted in injuries to three security personnel who were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Tejashwi Yadav visited the injured officials, inquiring about their condition and expressing his concern. The injured personnel are now reported to be stable, although they suffered from bruises and minor fractures.
The truck driver was apprehended by local police at the scene, and the truck was taken into custody. The cause of the accident is under investigation. Some reports suggest that the driver may have been speeding or fatigued, however, the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause.
This incident has brought to light concerns surrounding the safety of political figures during long-distance travel on Bihar’s roads, particularly late at night. RJD supporters took to social media to express their relief at Yadav’s safety, while others called for increased road safety measures and improved enforcement of traffic rules.
Party leaders have called for a thorough review of VIP security protocols for road travel, especially under conditions of poor visibility and concerning the actions of road users.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his active political life and frequent travel on Bihar’s roads, has returned to his normal life and assured his followers that he is safe and unaffected by the incident.
