Researchers at the Indira Gandhi Agricultural University in Raipur, India, have made a remarkable discovery concerning a rare rice variety from Chhattisgarh. The research shows that consuming ‘Sanjeevani’ rice, a variety from Bastar, can lead to the elimination of cancer cells. This discovery could potentially change the way cancer is treated. The rice contains 213 phytochemicals, of which seven are believed to possess cancer-fighting properties. The medical use of this unique rice may begin within two to three years. Human trials are planned at the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital.
