In Sukma district, Chhattisgarh, an IED blast has claimed the life of ASP Akash Rao Giripunje, with multiple police personnel injured. The attack took place near the village of Dondra. The incident occurred while police were patrolling in anticipation of a bandh call given by the Naxalites. ASP Giripunje, who was severely wounded, later died while receiving treatment. The incident highlights the challenges security forces face while combating Naxalism. The state government has intensified search and security operations in the area. Deputy CM Vijay Shamra expressed his sorrow over the loss, recognizing Giripunje’s valor. This incident follows previous attacks, including one in January 2025, in which several security personnel lost their lives.
