An incident of gang-rape involving a tribal minor has occurred in Godda district, Jharkhand, involving ten accused. The event took place in the Sunderpahari police station area during a wedding. The young girl had reportedly stepped outside the wedding venue when the heinous act transpired.
The perpetrators seized the minor, subdued her, and took her to a remote location within the village. The gang-rape sparked immediate outrage within the community, resulting in a village panchayat being convened.
Eight suspects have been taken into custody. Following a complaint from the family, the Sunderpahari police took swift action and arrested eight of the ten individuals involved. All the arrested individuals are residents of the Sunderpahari police station area. Charges under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections have been filed against the eight accused, and further investigation is ongoing. The police are actively seeking the remaining two suspects. This case follows a similar incident in Godda district.
In a separate incident, four men in Bokaro were arrested for the gang-rape of a woman. The perpetrators had stopped a couple returning from the market, forced them to consume alcohol, and subsequently, tied up the husband while they committed the crime. The Sector-12 police promptly intervened and apprehended all four individuals.
