Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav narrowly escaped an accident on Saturday morning when a truck struck his convoy near Goraul in Vaishali district. The incident happened as he was traveling back to Patna from a political rally held in Madhepura.
The convoy had stopped for a short tea break on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway around 12:30 AM. While Tejashwi Yadav was a few meters away, having tea, a truck collided with the stationary vehicles of his security detail. Thankfully, his personal vehicle was not hit, and he was unharmed.
Three security officials were injured in the crash and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Tejashwi Yadav later visited them, inquiring about their health and showing concern. The injured officials are now in stable condition, though they sustained bruises and minor fractures.
The local police arrested the truck driver at the scene and took the truck into custody. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. Some reports suggest speeding or driver fatigue, but a full investigation is underway.
The incident has brought attention to the security of political figures traveling long distances on Bihar’s roads, especially at night. RJD activists took to social media to express relief at Yadav’s safety and to call for improved road safety and stricter traffic rule enforcement.
Party leaders have called for a thorough investigation into VIP security protocols on the road, particularly in situations with poor visibility and potential road hazards.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his active political life and extensive travel across Bihar, has returned to his normal activities and has assured his supporters that he is safe.
