Russian forces have launched a series of powerful attacks on Kharkiv, Ukraine, leading to at least five fatalities. The attacks followed a large-scale aerial assault the previous night. Mayor Igor Terekhov reported intense shelling, with “at least 40 explosions” early Saturday. The attacks are believed to be a response to a Ukrainian drone operation. Terekhov stated that this was the most powerful attack on Kharkiv since the beginning of the full-scale war, with attacks coming from missiles, drones, and guided aerial bombs. Video showed a fire in an apartment building. Further attacks with glide bombs on Saturday evening resulted in more deaths and injuries, targeting a children’s playground. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attacks as “pure terrorism,” highlighting the deliberate targeting of civilians.
