Elon Musk deleted a tweet that included Donald Trump’s name in the context of the Epstein files, following a public spat between the two. The online exchange began when Musk suggested that the files’ non-release was due to Trump’s involvement. Musk had previously resigned from his position with the Department of Government Efficiency, citing a desire to focus more on his businesses. Musk was reportedly unhappy with Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill.’
Musk’s tweet, which was later removed, stated, “Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” Following the deletion, Musk signaled a potential shift towards reconciliation. He responded to a post by American Fund Manager Bill Ackman, who supports both Trump and Musk and urged them to make peace for the benefit of the country. Musk’s reply indicated an agreement.
The disagreement took place against the backdrop of Trump’s ‘big, beautiful bill,’ which covers tax cuts and military spending. The two figures engaged in a social media feud, with both sides leveling accusations and criticisms at each other. The conflict escalated when Musk made significant allegations concerning Trump’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein, increasing the personal conflict between them. This occurred shortly after Musk stepped down from his role at the Department of Government Efficiency.
In response to the public breakdown, U.S. Vice President JD Vance expressed his support for Trump. Vance posted on X, “President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I’m proud to stand beside him.”
