A passenger aboard a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru faced an unusual situation when they were confined to the plane’s restroom for the entire duration of the flight. Following the incident, the airline has apologized and reportedly offered compensation to the passenger.
The passenger was eventually rescued after the plane landed in Bengaluru. Ground staff and engineers promptly opened the toilet door, which had malfunctioned mid-air and become locked.
The event occurred on a flight that was delayed by two hours, departing from Mumbai at 2:10 AM. The scheduled departure time was 10:55 PM.
A passenger in seat 14D entered the restroom shortly after takeoff. The door’s locking mechanism failed, leaving the passenger trapped. Both the passenger and the crew attempted to unlock the door, but without success.
To ease the passenger’s distress, the crew passed a handwritten note under the door. The note advised the passenger not to panic and to remain seated until the flight landed in Bengaluru.
The crew’s note quickly went viral on social media, amusing many and leading to comments on the handwriting. The flight landed in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM, at which point an airport engineer opened the door. The airline has since expressed its regret and issued an apology to the affected passenger.
