The Agricultural University, Sabour, has been awarded an A grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), a noteworthy achievement for Bihar, announced by the Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister, Vijay Kumar Sinha. This recognition signifies a major step forward for Bihar in the fields of higher education, research, and innovation.
Sinha highlighted that this success stems from the university’s commitment, hard work, and the collective efforts of its members. The academic environment, cultivated through collaboration between teachers, scientists, staff, students, and farmers, has been crucial to this accomplishment. This recognition underscores the positive impact of the Bihar government’s focus on the education and agriculture sectors, now evident at a national level. It places the university amongst the leading institutions in the state and among the top NAAC-accredited agricultural universities across the country.
The NAAC peer team undertook an exhaustive evaluation of the university from May 28 to May 30, assessing all areas including academics, administration, infrastructure, research, and extension. This accreditation confirms the university’s dedication to higher education, research, innovation, and national progress. In just 15 years, the university has achieved a commendable 3.08 CGPA, solidifying its strong presence nationally. This achievement reflects the university’s continuous focus on academic quality, inclusive development, research advancements, and administrative transparency.
The Minister pointed out that this grading is in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, showcasing the university’s strategic approach and implementation. The efficient execution of the Bihar Agricultural Roadmap and the strong backing from the state government were key factors in this achievement. The university has revamped its curriculum to be multidisciplinary, skill-focused, and innovation-led, in accordance with NEP 2020. The NAAC team praised the curriculum’s design and development, emphasizing outcome-based education, hands-on learning, and industry-academia partnerships.
Students benefit from the option of choosing interdisciplinary and optional courses, early-stage involvement in research, and credit transfer facilities, representing an exemplary move towards NEP’s flexible, student-centered, and holistic development approach. A robust feedback system, which collects input from students, alumni, teachers, employers, and other stakeholders, is also a distinctive aspect of the university.
The Deputy Chief Minister congratulated the university community on this achievement, encouraging them to build upon this success and lead Bihar towards becoming a pioneer in knowledge, science, and agricultural innovation.
