Elon Musk, the billionaire, retracted a tweet that implicated Donald Trump in the Epstein files, following a public disagreement between the two. The conflict arose after Musk reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill.’ Musk had recently stepped down from his government role with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The deleted tweet read, “Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” Following this, Musk appeared to signal a potential truce, responding positively to a suggestion from Bill Ackman. Ackman advocated for reconciliation between Trump and Musk.
The public disagreement coincided with a significant moment for Trump’s legislative agenda, which includes tax cuts and expanded military spending. The two engaged in a public exchange of criticisms, which intensified after Musk made allegations about Trump’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein. The feud became public shortly after Musk left his government position.
JD Vance, the U.S. Vice President, publicly supported Trump amid the dispute. On X, Vance stated, “President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I’m proud to stand beside him.”
