A meeting of the Congress Working Committee was held today under the chairmanship of the National President of the Indian National Congress, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi. Former Congress President and Lok Sabha MP Mr. Rahul Gandhi was also present in the meeting. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and Chief Ministers of Congress ruled states also participated in this meeting organized through video conferencing. In the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel informed about the latest status of prevention and prevention of infection of Kovid-19 in Chhattisgarh and relief works being done for the needy people. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel told in the meeting that 36 patients of corona virus were found infected in the state. Out of which 28 patients have become healthy and have been discharged from hospital, the remaining 8 patients are under treatment, their condition is also fine.
Mr. Baghel said that lockdown is in force in Chhattisgarh. Exemptions are given for certain urgent services. Adequate arrangements have been made for the supply of essential commodities. Three months ration is being given free of cost to poor families. Ration of two months in April and May has been provided free to 56 lakh poor families of the state. Ration for June will also be given free of cost.
Under MNREGA, 41 thousand 495 works have been started in 9494 gram panchayats out of total 11,497 gram panchayats in the state, in which more than 11 lakh 78 thousand laborers are working. Exemption has been provided for agricultural activities. Arrangements have also been made to supply manure and seeds. Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana will also be started soon and distribution of paddy amounting to Rs. 2500 per quintal and difference of support price will be started to farmers. Preparations for collection of tendu leaves in the forest areas have been completed. In this work, about 13 lakh tendu patta collectors will be paid wages of Rs 650 crores. The state government has decided to increase the purchase of Mahua from Rs 17 to Rs 30 per kg.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said in the video conference that at the time of Kovid-19 crisis, the central government should go ahead and provide financial assistance to the states. Only then can this battle against Kovid-19 be won. Mr. Baghel told Mrs. Sonia Gandhi that the state government has demanded a package of Rs. 30 thousand crore from Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. So that the relief and welfare schemes for the lakhs of needy families of the state and the normal functioning of the state can be managed smoothly. Mr. Baghel also informed that he has requested the Prime Minister to immediately release Rs.10 thousand crores out of this amount, so that financial assistance can be given to industry, business, service sector and agriculture sector.
The Chief Minister has also urged the state to immediately grant exemption for conducting partial revenue related economic activities in view of the controlled situation of spread of Kovid-19 in the state. He also informed that exemption has been sought from the Central Government in the operation of sweets shops, so that milk of milk producing farmers can be sold. Similarly, following the Guidelines to prevent Kovid-19 infection, registration and purchase of properties, including the operation and registration of the showroom of vehicles, operation of construction works in cities, air conditioners, coolers and fridges in view of summer season. Exemptions have been sought for operation of show rooms, all types of repair work and opening of all types of retail works in all green districts.
Mr. Baghel also informed the Congress Working Committee that the subject of the return of students and laborers trapped due to the lockdown in other states is also very serious. The central government should also set a policy for this. So that the return of students and laborers to Chhattisgarh is possible, but the Central Government is silent on this subject.
