By India Today Web Desk: Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal stated that the ‘most annoying’ a part of dealing with Roger Federer was the Swiss star’s unpredictable model of play. The 25-year-old Nagal stated that Federer had too many methods up his sleeve and it was arduous to foretell which shot he was going to play.
“Federer you can call a magician. You don’t know what is coming,” Nagal was quoted as saying to Sportskeeda on the sidelines of the ATP 250 Maharashtra Open in Pune.
“That is among the most annoying elements to play towards him that you don’t have any clue. Is this man going to hit a second serve and are available to the online? Is he going for a brief cross-court backhand or making an attempt to make you (come) in?” Nagal stated.
“He has too many choices, you realize. You notice it, however in the long run, you additionally must know what you might be able to and never able to,” Nagal said.
Back in August 2019, Nagal and Federer locked horns in the first round of the US Open at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Nagal won the first set and threw up a massive surprise, but Federer came back to win the match 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4. Federer was the No.3 in the men’s draw back then.
However, Nagal doesn’t want his fans to remember him for the set he won against Federer, who retired from professional tennis earlier this year.
“To be sincere, I don’t prefer it when folks say it (quite a bit), you realize. In the top, I misplaced the match. If I had overwhelmed (Federer) it’s a special story. A loss is a lossâ€¦On our ATP web site, it doesn’t say, ‘Sumit Nagal gained the primary set, however misplaced the 4th set. Wow, pity him’,” Nagal added.
