AMRAVATI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over custody of all of the seven accused within the homicide of Amravati-based chemist Umesh Kolhe, a police official mentioned on Tuesday.

The NIA took custody of all of the accused, who have been granted 4 days’ transit remand on Monday after they have been produced earlier than the Amravati court docket, he mentioned.

The accused are prone to be produced earlier than the NIA’s Mumbai court docket on or earlier than July 8, the official added.

Amravati police had discovered inks between social media posts supporting former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and Umesh’s homicide throughout the investigation and did not suppress the case as was alleged, police commissioner Arti Singh mentioned on Monday.

Police are looking out for another suspect Shamim Ahmed in reference to the case.

Umesh was allegedly attacked with a knife by a gaggle of three males between 10 pm and 10:30 pm on June 21.
