‘Metro man’ E Sreedharan is about to take a political plunge. Sreedharan will formally be part of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday, information company ANI reported. He will be part of the saffron celebration throughout its Vijay Yatra, a rath yatra the celebration is organising in Kerala forward of the meeting polls.
The yatra will likely be led by Kerala BJP chief Okay Surendran. The BJP will launch the Yatra in Kerala on February 21 from Kasaragod because it seeks to broaden its footprint forward of polls. The yatra will culminate at Thiruvananthapuram within the first week of March. Kerala is among the many 5 states the place Assembly polls will likely be held later this yr.
“He (Sreedharan) has expressed his willingness to work with the BJP,” Surendran instructed reporters in Kozhikode.
Sreedharan, 88, is the person behind India’s expansive and metro rail venture in Delhi. He retired as chief of Delhi Metro in 2011.
Sreedharan was awarded the Padma Shri in 2001 and Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
